Its a simple incidental story, really...
Our founders were regular landlords and needed to meter tenants accurately while making sure tenants do not leave behind unpaid bills that arrive days or months later.
Those days technology for sub-metering was almost non-existent and tokens were transferred via fax and paper.
With background in technology from the telecommunications industry, our founders thought this was far too administratively intensive, and there had to be a better way. They believed that some form of technology could be applied to automate this.
